GRANDSON MONKEY GOES TO WAR

2025

In this work, Irene June references the 16th century epic literary saga, "The Journey To The West", written by Wu Cheng'en. June dons the face of the hero and jester, the Monkey King, and a crown made of braided plastic and faux pearls. In this episode of Journey to the West, the Monkey King goes to war in an inflatable red boat and with no weapons. He deeply desires Heaven's recognition of his strength, and journeys to prove himself.
